The Lord gives a picture in nature of transformation in the life of a butterfly. It starts life as a worm which crawls and lives only to eat and survive. Then it goes into a season of hiddeness in a cocoon. This is the place where it is transformed from a worm into a butterfly. It then struggles to get free of its confinement or imprisonment. It then emerges and is set free to fly!
We start our lives focused on ourselves and our selfish desires to survive, consume and gratify ourselves. The Lord reveals Himself to us and calls us to Himself. He shows us His much better way. As we surrender our lives over to Him, His will and His ways, He then gives us His very Spirit to live in us and through us. His ultimate goal is to actually transform us into the very image of His Son Jesus Christ! That is His divine life exchange. “For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.” Luke 9:24 NIV
The Lord is transforming or changing our very natures through the power of His indwelling Holy Spirit working in us and through us. This is all very glorious and supernatural. Our part in all this is to surrender to His transforming work and yield to His superior will and ways for our lives.
